Cornwall were pushing for victory at tea yesterday on the final day of their three day Minor Counties game with Wiltshire at Falmouth.

The visitors had been set 225 to win in a minimum of 38 overs plus the last hour. They had reached 54 for three at the interval with around two hours play remaining.

Sunday’s play had been lost thanks to the weekend downpour with the umpires making an inspection on Saturday afternoon.

Play was further delayed by showers on Monday morning with another two hours lost. Cornwall made 199 all out after reaching 129 for two. Jake Libby made 44, Dan Davis 30 and Matt Robins 21. The middle order collapsed but Taylor Williams made 25 not out and Andrew Libby 22 in a ninth wicket stand of 43. Occasional medium pacer Henry Langford took a career best seven for 46. Wiltshire had seventy five minutes to bat and struggled to 37 for five at stumps. Rob Harrison, recalled to the team in place of the injured Alex Smeeth, had remarkable figures of 9-6-3-3. Yesterday morning, followed a 45 minute delay, Langford and Tom Bowler added 29 before a dramatic collapse saw five wickets fell for just two runs in seven overs.

Andrew Libby took three for one and Tom Sharp two for 12. His second wicket, Langford caught Hunkin at slip, was his 200th championship wicket, the tenth Cornish player to achieve the feat. A collapse saw eight wickets fall for Cornwall were after quick runs in their second innings. Matt Robins made 32 and Keith Parsons 25 before eight wickets fell for 33 runs
