Helston drop to third in division two with loss to Truro Seconds

Helston’s title hopes suffered a blow when they went down to a six wicket defeat at Boscawen Park against Truro seconds.
It leaves them in third spot but 40 points behind Stithians now, who remain unbeaten after their six wicket home win over Redruth seconds.
After being put in Helston lost Guy Leathley for two and then at 25 Dan Jenkin was lbw to Andrew Fairman for 13.
Chris Martin and Mark Thomas added 49 for the third wicket before Thomas was bowled by Joe Vanstone for 12. Hopes of a big total disappeared with a mid order collapse.
Martin was bowled by Vanstone for 39, that included a six and five fours. Steve Hosking went for 10 and Tyler Lambert, Tom Retallack and Matthew Lee soon followed.
At 105 for eight five wickets had fallen for 15 runs.
Peter Boyd made 13 to get the total to 126 all out in the 40th over. Fairman took four for 28 and Vanstone and Stephen Heayn took three wickets each.
Truro lost Stuart McNair at 29 and Mark Thomas at 44 with Boyd and Jenkin taking the wickets.
Tom Retallack then struck bowling Mark Adams for five.
The city side were seen home by Julian Bose who made 48 not out. Retallack took a second wicket when Andrew Senior was held by Hosking. The win came in the 40th over. Helston have a home game on Saturday against Leedstown.
ROSUDGEON II170-6 HELSTON 135 II
Helston seconds remain in amid-table position in Cornwall county division five west after they fell to a 35-run defeat at home to Rosudgeon.
Rosudgeon went into bat and reached a total of 170-6, with M Jacka top scoring with 29 runs.
Josh Ninnis got Helston’s reply off to a good start with 66 not out, but a batting collapse saw them fall well short of the total. A Price was the pick of the Rosudgeon bowlers taking a total of
six wickets for 34 runs.
Helston seconds will look to bounce back this weekend away at at third from bottom Mount Ambrose.
Rosudgeon 170-6 (M Jacka 29, extras 22; L Williams 2-52), Helston 135 (J Ninnis 66; A Price 6-34). Rosudgeon (19 points) beat Helston (six) by 35 runs.
