Helston guaranteed runners-up spot in division two with a solid 115 run win at St Ives.

They lost Guy Leathley for 17 and Dan Jenkin for 14 with the score at 37. Chris Martin (47) and Mark Thomas (30) then combined to add 58 for the third wicket.

After both were dismissed, and Tom Retallack went for a duck, Justin Matthews (45no) and Kannan Mathivannan (35) took control to see the 200 up.

Andrew Chard and Andre Otto took two wickets each. St Ives were soon in trouble losing their first six wickets for 52. Jason Shaw made 33 not out to see the hundred up.

The wickets were shared with Mathivannan taking three for 23 off ten overs. Peter Boyd, Dan Jenkin and Thomas took two wickets each.

Helston end the season at home to Paul seconds on Saturday. Paul’s survival is assured as both St Austell and Luckett have been relegated from County One into division 2 east which has a knock on effect on all the divisions both east and west.

As a result only one team will be promoted in the eastern divisions and only one relegated in each of the west divisions.
