Seven Stars produce a double to get out of trouble

SEVEN Stars A had to win the last two doubles matches to edge a 5-4 win against the Lion & Lamb B team last week in division one of the West Cornwall Summer Pool League.

They lead the table by two points from Helston FC A, who won five out of the six singles in a 6-3 win over Mullion FC A, while Porthleven FC maintained their unbeaten record by also getting a 6-3 win over Breage SC.

Helston RBL A kept the leaders in sights with a 6-3 win over Helston CC A with singles wins from Jim Hunt, Ivan Murdoch, J P Williams, Wayne Tucker and Jason Grigor.

The Rodney won 6-3 against Angel A last week and have an eight point lead at the top of division two.

Helston RBL B had singles wins from Richard O’Sullivan and Marcus Thomas, but found themselves 4-2 down against second placed team, Helston RBL F after the singles. However they won all three doubles games to win the match 5-4.

Helston FC B have moved into third spot after a 5-4 win over Red Lion A and Helston RFC moved up the table after a 7-2 win over Helston RBL E.

In division three the two leaders have opened an eight point gap at the top of the table.

Red Lion C had a 6-3 victory over Mullion FC B and the Bell had an 8-1 win over Helston CC B. Andrew Winn, Alex Ensink, Mark Wood, Sid Porter and Lee Morris all won their singles for the Potters Bar in their 7-2 win over Helston RBL C.

The Lion & Lamb A team matched that with a 7-2 win over the Seven Stars B team.
