CHILDREN’S Hospice South West have released three more big star names who will feature in next month’s charity football match in Truro.

Two weeks ago the charity, which is raising to build a new hospice to service the families of Plymouth and Cornwall, revealed that Bryan Robson and Paul Merson would be playing at Truro City’s Treyew Road in a football match taking place on Sunday, September 27.

Now the charity has revealed that former Tottenham and Norwich winger Ruel Fox is in the team, which also includes ex-Republic of Ireland player Keith O’Neill, 1997 World Snooker Champion Ken Doherty, Westlife heartthrob Nicky Byrne, former Wham! pop star Andrew Ridgeley, former Everton, Oldham, and Norwich player Mike Milligan and Newquay boy and former Celtic and Middlesbrough right back Chris Morris.

Popular dance group Flava will also be at the event entertaining the crowd before the 3pm kick off so people are advised to arrive early to enjoy the pre-match build up – gates open at 1pm.

The group is best known for reaching the semi-finals of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent in 2008.

Added to that the charity is also looking for an official mascot for the event and is inviting nominations.

Emma Lloyd, Children’s Hospice South West Head of Fundraising (West) explains: “We’re looking for a mascot with star quality to represent the celebrity side at our Celebrity Football Match next month! If your holiday park, attraction, business or organisation has a mascot that has got what it takes then we’d love to hear from you.”

To apply for the role, please send in your ‘mascot mugshot’ and state, in no more than fifty words, why you should be the mascot to the stars by e-mailing emma.lloyd@chsw.org.uk or by post to 8, Walsingham Place, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 2RP by 1st September.

The top four mascots will be invited to the Celebrity Football Match on Sunday, September 27, to battle it out for the job in a fun competition before the match. Tickets for the game are priced at £12 (seated) or £8 (standing) and are available now from the CHSW office in Truro 01872 261 166, or call in at 8 Walsingham Place, Truro TR1 2RP between office hours (9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday). Tickets are also available from Strikers Bar of Truro City Football Club.

The match is being kindly supported by Follett Stock and Air Soutwest and all proceeds will go towards Children’s Hospice South West’s Precious Lives Appeal to build a children’s hospice – Little Habour – in Porthpean.
