Wendron battle against St Day

ST DAY 7 WENDRON 3 The final scoreline of 7-3 looks harsh on Wendron as they battled back and came close to providing a shock result in this Jolly’s Combination League match.

St Day took the lead on 10 minutes when former Helston striker Dominic Pullen tapped in a cross from Adam Johns.

However, Wendron were level five minutes later when Adam Williamson’s hit an excellent shot into the top corner.

St Day then took the lead once more on 35 minutes when Brian Hawke hit home.

The same player then made it 3-1 on 50 minutes when he struck a low drive into the back of the net following a cross from Johns.

On 60 minutes teenager Tom Annear marked his debut with a shot which flew over the Wendron’s keeper’s head and in.

However, Wendron then staged a fightback with two quick fire goals.

First James Moseley reduced the deficit to 4-2, before Alan Rogers netted to set up an unlikely comeback.

However, a curling shot from Andy Dyer restored the home side’s two-goal cushion and when Nathan Taylor and Pullen added further goals in the last ten minutes the scoreline was given a slightly flattering look for St Day.
