Classy running by CAC athletes

There was some classy running by the Cornwall Athletic Club runners in the London Marathon on Sunday, with most of the 14 club athletes setting personal best times.

Jon Keast continued his fine form with a personal best of two hours, 39 minutes and 40 seconds, finishing 178th place out of the 35,000 runners and improving on his 2007 time by over five minutes.

The club's two ex-footballers, Shuan Tozer and Steve Wherry, were very close together up to halfway before Shaun pulled away to clock a superb two hours, 48 minutes and 22 seconds, which placed him 415th overall. This was an improvement of over four minutes,.

Wherry hung on well to dip under three hours with two hours, 59 minutes and 53 seconds on the clock and Dave Angilley clocked three hours, zero minutes and 44 seconds.

Donna Hillman, starting on the elite ladies' start, ran over three minutes quicker than last year, clocking an outstanding three hours, three minutes one second.

With Donna a fine 72nd out of the elite women, Suzy Bosustow had a great first marathon from the mass start, finishing 61st female from that start in three hours, 12 minutes and 35 seconds, giving her a championship entry for next year and a personal best by an incredible 23 minutes compared to her time in 2007.

Dave Southby was only five seconds slower than Suzy and 2084th overall, with Adrian Mutsaers confirming his improvement this year and setting a personal best of three hours, 26 seconds and 39 minutes. Less than a minute behind was Sarah Keast clocking three hours, 27 minutes and 18 seconds.

Danny Marsh ran three hours, 40 minutes and 28 seconds, with Viv Bray finishing in three hours, 51 minutes and seven seconds.

Local rugby referee Andy Reynolds ran four hours, 17 minutes and 16 seconds, followed by Sam Alexander and debutant Nikki Coleman. They ran together in four hours, 33 minutes and 43 seconds.
