A HAT-TRICK from Adam Carter saw Wayne Hughes' second match in caretaker charge of Falmouth Town end in a 4-0 home defeat on Tuesday evening.

The Ambers went into the match in bouyant mood after Saturday's 3-0 victory against Callington Town, their first match since the resignation of manager John Dent.

But the visit of Bodmin who sit in second place in the South West Peninsula League Premier table was always going to be a harder test for Town.

It took just eight minutes for the visitors to take the lead through new signing Ryan Richards, making his debut after joining from Plymouth Parkway, and the lead was doubled on the stroke of half-time when Carter scored from the penalty spot.

To Falmouth's credit they had put up a good fight and create chances, but it proved to be a night when they lacked quality in the final third as their final balls and shooting boots were not up to scratch.

For the first 15 minutes of the second half, the host's kept Bodmin pinned back in their final third but again could not grab a goal back.

Carter added his second on the hour mark winning a one-on-one battle with Jason Peters in Town's goal before completing his hat-trick in the 71st minute with a brilliant chip over the goalkeeper.

FA Vase action is next up for the Ambers as they travel to Bath for a first round tie with Odd Down.
