FALMOUTH Town endured a frustrating day at home to Godolphin on Saturday, where the scoreline did not tell the whole story.

The game started in dramatic fashion, with four goals going in before the 20 minute mark.

Falmouth could count themselves unlucky to concede the first goal, a shot from Godolphin’s right back Scott Flannigan, who was impressive throughout, taking a big deflection on its way past the keeper.

The equaliser was not long in coming though, as just two minutes later Glen Squires scored his second goal on his second appearance after returning to the club to level the scores. After latching on to a back pass he slotted the ball past the keeper.

The lead was short lived, however, as Ross Fallens was felled in the Falmouth penalty area, and Aaron Dilley stepped up to score the spot-kick and restore Godolphin’s lead.

A third for Godolphin was added in the 18th minute when the tireless Flannigan centred the ball for Lee Rigby to finish.

Falmouth were unlucky not to have reduced the deficit before the halfway mark when Jamie Webb’s powerful header was cleared off the line by that man again, Scott Flannigan.

The home side came out with intent in the second half and were determined to get back in the game.

Godolphin absorbed the pressure, and with ten minutes to go sealed the win through a Phil Lowry goal.

Falmouth’s day was summed up when Squires, after winning a penalty for his side, saw his effort from the spot saved by visiting keeper Shaun Semmens.

It will be a case of what could have been for the Falmouth side, but they can at least take heart from a good performance against a strong Godolphin team.
