Falmouth Town were beaten by an 85th minute strike from Ross Saint as they fell to a 1-0 loss at Saltash United.

Falmouth had defended well for the majority of the match, with the centre back pairing of Wayne Quinn and Matt Liaty in particularly good form.

However a cross from the left, late in the second half, bounced off the shin of Jamie Devine and into the path of Saint for him to fire home.

It was cruel blow for Falmouth, who came closest to opening the scoring in the first half when Quinn's cross from the left was punched clear by Ashes' keeper Ben Elphick only for Karl Turner to hook a volley onto the post.

Saltash had slighty the better of the first forty-five minutes though, with Ross Pope clearing Richard Maddison's shot off the goal line. Maddison put the ball in the back of the net moments later as well, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The second half saw the chances continue to come Saltash's way as Chapman turned an Aaron Cusack shot round the post, before keeping a Gavin Coulton header from creeping into the bottom corner.

At the other end Pope sent a free header wide, but Falmouth never really looked like that had enough going forward to take the match.

Saltash were also running out of ideas as the match entered the final stages, but the lucky bounce in the area gave Saint the chance to snatch all three points.

Falmouth Town: Jason Chapman, Bradley Wills, Jamie Devine, Wayne Quinn, Matt Liaty, Ross Pope, Dan Richardson, Lewis Caspell, Glen Squires, Karl Turner, Kirk Davies. Subs: Andy Westgarth, Rob Wearne, Jamie Webb.
