Friday night saw a relatively easy win for Penryn away at Penzance. Penryn took an early lead in the fourth minute as the home side cheaply gave the ball away playing out from the back. Kevin Lawrence took full advantage by intercepting and fired a 25 yard shot in over Penzance keeper Steve Leigh who was caught too far out.

Penryns second was a blast. University student Ryan Martt laid a ball down the right hand channel to Kevin Lawrence who in turn laid it back to Ed Wilton. He turned his man and played the ball across the field to Ollie Moody who, instead of setting up another attack, hit a tremendous first time shot which flew past Leigh from 30 yards out.

Penzance player-manager Calron Hall, who many will be familiar with as an ex-Falmouth Town player, was booked scything down Ollie Moody, before the game was held up a full 20 minutes as referee Ian Roberts pulled up with a calf strain.

Recently retired ref Andy Howes, who was a spectator on the night, took over in the middle. There were two more Penzance injuries as a disrupted first half took 70 minutes to complete.

Penryn dominated the second half as the home side dropped further and further back towards their goal and were on the back foot for the entire half. Penryn rotated the squad by bringing on Greg Hobbs, Sean Johnson and Elliot Jory in the last 20 minutes.

The visitors got their third goal with 10 minutes to go as the lively Luke Brabyn, who had made countless runs down the right, lifted a scooped pass over to Russell May, who hammered home at the near post. In the closing stages Penzance had their first meaningful shot but it went well over.
Penryn will be hoping to continue their excellent start to the season when they host last year's frontrunners Mousehole on Wednesday before playing at home against Millbrook on Saturday.
