JOHN Dent said results from the next couple of league games will tell whether Saturday's comeback win in the FA Vase has changed Falmouth Town's fortunes.

The Ambers beat Ashton & Backwell United 3-2 in the competition's second qualifying round at Bickland Park after going 2-0 down inside the first 14 minutes of the game.

It was only the second win for Falmouth in all competitions this season.

Going into tonight's South West Peninsula League Premier Division match at home to Camelford, Town found themselves hovering above the relegation zone in 15th place.

Their manager was delighted with the character shown by his team to get a victory on Saturday, but said it is too early to say whether it will turn their whole season around.

Dent said: “I'll reserve judgement on what affect the win has on our year until after our game with Camelford.

“It is still too early in the season to say where anyone is going to end up.

“We have to focus on the next couple of games, because if we lose them then it will take momentum away.”

Along with concentrating on upcoming league games, Dent said the coaching team have been trying to get the players to focus on their performances on the field.

Before their clash in the FA Vase, a meeting was held with the squad to review the season so far and what work needs to be done.

“We had the guys in early on Saturday to discuss things not just about things on a team basis, but also on an individual level,” Dent said.

“We wanted the players to know what their roles are in the squad and how they have to take responsibility for their own performance, rather than looking at others.

“I think they all really took this on board for Saturday and they worked hard to get the result they did.”
