WAYNE Hughes says the improvements made by Falmouth Town players in recent weeks is giving him a “selection headache”.

The man who took over the hot-seat at Bickland Park in November believes the team are collectively getting more confident and belief in their own ability.

These steps forward shone through on Saturday as they drew 0-0 with Exmouth Town, who are currently fifth in the South West Peninsula League Premier.

Hughes said there have been plenty of good signs coming from the club.

“The way the guys have been playing recently has been good to see and is making selecting the best team hard,” he said.

“There are a lot of young lads there who have got the bit between their teeth and are really pushing for a first team spot.

“In recent weeks they have shown they’re moving forward.”

On Saturday, the Ambers travel up to Stoke Gabriel who sit just three places above them in the league table.

With this in mind, Hughes said getting a win against sides like Gabriel are of paramount importance.

Hughes, pictured above, said: “We’ve played a lot of top half sides over the last few weeks.

“Now we have a couple of weeks where we face sides in and around us in the league table, so if we are to push up the table, it is these games we really need to win.”
