AN EASY win was bagged by Penryn Athletic as they stuffed Millbrook 5-0 in their South West Peninsula League West clash.

The fate of Saturday’s match was decided inside the first 25 minutes as the visitors grabbed four of their goals before cruising out proceedings in a poor second half.

It took just two minutes for Athletic to open the scoring when Tyler Cooke sidestepped his marker before firing a shot past Jack Dixon.

Cooke was on target again ten minutes later when he got the better of Millbrook’s goalkeeper with a low drive after cutting across the penalty area.

Life continued in a leisurely fashion for Athletic and their third goal came in the 24th minute when Ollie Moody took the ball right up to the byline before finding Kevin Lawrence, who turned and shot home.

Within a minute the score was 4-0 when David Broglino produced a fine chip over Dixon’s head.

Millbrook did have a chance of their own to get involved with the scoring when in the build-up to half time they won a penalty.

However, captain Will Stevens hit a poor spot-kick which was comfortably saved by visiting goalie Chris Symons.

Athletic’s second half performance was a few notches down from the skill and endeavour they had worked up in the opening 45 minutes.

With the result all but decided, cruise control was put on by the visitors in what was not an entertaining affair.

Ryan Dunn and Scott Palmer were given run outs for Athletic after injuries were picked up by Russell May and Ryan Chinn, Palmer played a part in the game’s final goal when he played Lawrence through in the box, who slotted a shot into the net.

The win moved Athletic into fifth spot in the league table and on Saturday they host Illogan RBL at Kernick Road with kick-off at 3pm.
