TOM Whipp said pre-season has already begun at Falmouth Town and hopes potential signings will buy into the new culture at Bickland Park.

With four games to go in their 2014/15 season, the defender who returned to the South West Peninsula Premier club in December after short spells at Bodmin Town and Torpoint Athletic said the team have started looking towards life in 2015/16.

Whipp departed the club last summer after falling out with manager John Dent but came back during the early stages of current boss Wayne Hughes’ reign.

Speaking to the Packet, the 28-year-old praised the work done by the man now in the charge and hopes it will help them sign new recruits before next season.

Whipp said: “Wayne is doing a really good job and I’m not just saying that because I’m playing here. The mood is a lot happier.

“It is no secret that I didn’t really like John and it kind of forced me out of the club, but since Wayne has come onboard he has brought in more professionalism.

“Obviously it does take time to get the old culture away and we can’t just expect to sign new players from anywhere as a lot will still think of the old ways which were here.

“I’m excited for next year and I’m just hoping other people see what Wayne is doing at the club and buy into it as we do need to strengthen the squad a little.”
