LAST orders for Wendron United's season had a glorious feel to them as the Evely Cup was claimed by the Jolly's Combination League outfit.

Goals from Chris Mulroy, Matt Rose, Justine Searle and Mikey O'Neill handed Dron their second trophy of the campaign as they ran out 4-1 victors against Tavistock Reserves at St Agnes on Sunday.

The annual clash sees the winners of the Combination League and East Cornwall League cups meet and it was the Devon-based side who started the game in the ascendancy.

Tavistock controlled the opening half hour with most of the possession falling in Dron's half of the field and their defence having to put in plenty of hard graft at the back.

Despite their domination and many sniffs at goal, the Lambs could not put their opponents to the slaughter as they failed to find the target and test Jon Row out between the sticks.

Just before the half hour mark, Mulroy found himself clearing a header off the line from a corner, but this was the closest Tavistock got to breaking the deadlock.

They were made to pay for squandering their chances in the 33rd minute when Dron took the lead against the run of play with several passes being exchanged in the midfield, opening up Tavistock's defence and allowing Mulroy to nip in and fire past Tom Sparrow.

If this had not knocked the stuffing out of the Lambs, then the two goals bagged inside a couple of minutes shortly after the half time interval certainly did.

Rose doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute with a sweetly hit shot from just outside the penalty area beating an outstretched Sparrow before Searle added a third with a thumping effort following a poor clearance from Tavistock's defence.

Striker Luke Wort hit the post for Dron just after the hour, with the rebound nutmegging Mulroy, before Tavistock found the net as a ball over the top was raced onto by Jack Crago, who proceeded to lob row in the 74th minute.

Any thoughts of a dramatic comeback were dashed two minutes later though when O'Neill rose up in the box to head home after Justin Miles booted a free kick from the halfway line into the penalty area.
