PENRYN Athletic chairman Kenny Simmons was presented with a prestigious Gold award for 50 years' service to football at the club's presentation evening on Saturday.

Kenny has served all of those years with the Kernick Road club, starting as a player in the 1966/67 season in Falmouth-Helston League Division 2.

During his playing career, the former Falmouth Docks marine welder was never booked or sent off.

He has performed any number of duties for the club. He washes all three kits every week, does the 50-50 raffle on match days and takes admission fees on the gate.

He has been president of the club for almost 20 years.

CCFA board member and referee Steve Lawrence presented him with the medal in the clubhouse on Saturday.
