Falmouth Town have been invited to take part in the curtain raiser for the new CSWPL season, after Throgmorton Cup runners upBuckland Athletic pulled out.
Buckland, who have been promoted to the Western League, were due to meet last season CSWPL premier division champions Bodmin in the Charity Bowl match at Callington Town AFC on Sunday, August 5.
However, the club informed the league that they would be unable to fulfil that fixture after the Western League confirmed that their new season would be starting on Saturday, August 4.
As a result CSWPL officials had to search for a replacement for the Bucks.
A statement from the CSWPL secretary Phil Hiscox, read: “The officers therefore considered who should be invited instead and as the match is league winners v cup winners, we looked at the semi-finalists of the Throgmorton Cup.
“These were Falmouth Town and Liverton United and as Liverton are already playing in the Charity Vase against Newquay the same day we decided to invite Falmouth Town to take their (Buckland’s) place and they have duly accepted the invitation.
The Charity Vase (contested between the winner of the CSWPL division one west and division one east) will kick-off at Callington Town AFC at 12pm. The Charity Bowl will be played later, with a 3.30pm kick-off.
