ANDREW Westgarth said the lure of returning to his home town club was too big a pull away from Helston Athletic.

The forward confirmed to the Packet on Monday he will be heading back to Falmouth Town for the 2015/16 campaign after spending last season at Kellaway Park.

During his time with the Blues, Westgarth secured a South West Peninsula League West Division winner's medal and also helped the side reach the semi finals of the Cornwall Charity Cup.

However, the 30-year-old who departed Bickland Park last August admitted being asked to play for the Ambers again was an opportunity he could not turn down.

Westgarth said: "Falmouth are my home town club and that is the main reason why I have decided to return.

"Wayne Hughes came in halfway through last season after John Dent's departure and inherited his squad, but this season he will be able to put together his own team and that is exciting to be part of.

"If you had asked me when I was 21 about targets, I would have said to score 20 goals in the season, but now I'm a bit older I will just be looking to do whatever I can to help the team."

Looking back at his time with the Blues, Westgarth said he will always remember his time with the club fondly.

He added winning the league was a great feeling and he is looking forward to the two league fixtures the clubs will play.

"It was a fantastic season to be at Helston," Westgarth said.

"The team spirit there is massive and it does get pretty crazy sometimes.

"I would have felt bad if we had not won the league and then I left, but we did and that was brilliant and I have left on very good terms with Sid Taylor and the lads.

"Even though we are in the same division now, I will be keeping my eye out for Helston's results and when the sides meet on Boxing Day and Good Friday, I'm sure I'll enjoy it."
