HELSTON Athletic manager Sid Taylor said he will try to keep the players' feet on the ground after their comfortable start to South West Peninsula League Premier life.

On Saturday the Blues played their first ever game in the division and left Kellaway Park in a happy mood as they defeated St Blazey 3-0.

Their opponents were slow out of the blocks with Athletic's defence barely troubled throughout the clash.

Taylor admitted the game went a bit easier than expected and now his job is to make sure the squad do not rest on their laurels, as tougher challenges are to come.

Taylor said: "It definitely won't be as easy as this every week.

"What I've said to the boys is "well done, that's three points in the bag", but now we have to keep working hard.

"We'll talk about it in training before we go to Camelford on Saturday, which will be a tricky fixture, but that is what it is all about and I'll do my best to keep their feet on the ground."

With Saturday being a historic day for the club, Taylor said he was still getting to grips with his side being a SWPL Premier club and the fantastic look of their ground, which has seen thousands of pounds spent on it during the pre-season.

He was also pleased to come up against another team who he used to play for in their first fixture.

"It was the perfect opening fixture for me," Taylor said.

"I'm an ex-St Blazey man and it was nice to bump into some familiar faces from the past.

"When I walked into the ground earlier, I had to pinch myself just thinking we were playing St Blazey in the top division.

"The ground is one of the best in Cornwall now as well and it has been a hard two months for the club putting it together, but we're 95 per cent there and the atmosphere on Saturday was great."
