St Teath Ladies 0, Porthleven Ladies 8

After a six-week break Porthleven Ladies were quickly into their stride dominating the opening exchanges, manager Paul Parfitt gave a debut to Charlie Bland, signed from Illogan over the Christmas break.

She had broken the deadlock with the first of her brace after 10 minutes of this Cornwall Women's League match on Sunday.

Porthleven pushed forward and leading scorer Jess Taylor-Fitzharris made it two inside 15 minutes before a superb solo run from Jasmine Bibby saw Porthleven begin to turn their dominance into goals.

Step forward captain and former Hamilton Academicals midfielder Jen Borland with two 30 yarders to add to the score sheet, the first a lob and the second an exquisite free kick into the top corner that no keeper was saving.

Going in 5-0 to the good at half time it was much of the same after the break as Port added three goals.

Although the attacking play caught the eye it goes without saying much of Port's good play was built on the solid defensive work of Coleen Eastwood at the back and Katie Village in midfield allowing the attacking players to do their thing.

Bibby and Bland both scored their second goals of the match before holding midfielder Lindsey Martin finished the scoring off with five minutes to go with a clinical finish from an acute angle.

With this being their first season, it has been noticeable of late that Porthleven Ladies have been improving rapidly game on game and manager Paul Parfitt stated: "I believe we are building a squad not only capable of a top half finish this season but one that can compete for honours in 2018-19."
