There was an excellent turnout at Budock Vean on Sunday for the final competition of the summer: the popular David Sulley Charity Cups.

The format is four ball better ball with three separate cups for best ladies pair, best mixed pair, and the best men's pair, with all entry fees from the competition going to Macmillan Cancer and Shelterbox.

The Ladies' Cup was won by Tricia Blatter and Sue Parsons with a score of 37 Stableford points

The best mixed pair cup was a very close contest between Lesley and Paul Upperton and Mo and Martin Salome, with both pairs scoring a superb 41 Stableford points. They both had identical back nines and had to be separated by the best back six holes with the Uppertons doing enough to take the cup.

The men's cup was also a close affair with several pairs recording scores of 39 or 40 points. Mike O' Hara and Stephen Penrose putted superbly, and this was enough to edge out the opposition and lift the cup with a score of 41 points.

On Wednesday the ladies held their autumn meeting, and this was won convincingly by the in-form Jenny Wake, who scored a magnificent  net 67 to win by 5 clear shots from Marlene Williams with a net 72.

Glenys Bateson took third place with a net 74, edging out Lesley Upperton and Nina Hann on countback.
