Falmouth golfers didn`t enjoy the best of weather on Saturday as they competed for the Richard Brian Cup in prolonged showers.

Dave Walsh won on countback with a good net 65 despite opening up with a double bogey at the first before playing steadily for the remainder of the round. Interestingly Dave was in good company as of the 93 starters the first hole averaged 5.53 strokes with just 12 pars. 39 bogeys. 28 double bogeys and 14 players carding triple bogeys or worse. Indeed it was rated as stroke index 1 (the most difficult) on the day.

Runner up was Jeff Lenihan also with a solid net 65. Third was Harry Perry with a fine net 66 including birdies at the 2nd and 13th holes. The best gross score of the day was by Nicky Chinn with another good round of 74.

Wednesday was the Monthly Medal sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services. Again the finish was as close as it gets with the top three all carding net 68s. The winner was Alan McColl who despite carding a triple bogey 7 at the ninth also had 11 pars on his card to see him take the top spot. Runner up was John Sanz who looked a safe bet after a birdie at the 16th before being brought down by a "snowman" (8) at the penultimate hole. John had the consolation of recording the best gross score of 78. Third was James Laskowski who also played well for another net 68.

Friday is the Cancer Charity Day from 12pm to 4pm. The ETS Cups will be contested on Sunday.
