A DUO of former Falmouth Docks footballers battled it out for the Peacock Cup Monthly Medal at Falmouth Golf Club last week.

The competition sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services had a tense finish as Leonard Lewis and Bill Ward fought for the title.

In the end both carded net scores of 70, but the medal went to Lewis on countback after Ward hit three straight bogeys over the last three holes, compared to his former team-mate’s three pars over the final four holes.

Third place was also decided on countback with Clive Hawke pipping Richie Perrin to the position after both hit net scores of 72.

There was some consolation for Perrin though as he carded the best gross total of the day with his round of 78.

Also at the course, a good turnout came along on Saturday for the three ball competition at the end of course maintenance week.

Coming out on top were the trio of Neville Brown, Alan Goldsmith and John Trevithick with 94 points, beating Matt Morrison, Dan Briers and Rob Churcher by one.
