BUDOCK Vean made a good start to the Cornwall Golf Union Frank Wills Salvers with a win over Truro.
The match played at Mullion Golf Club ended 3.5 – 1.5 with victories for the pairings of Carl Templeton and Stephen Crouch, Martin Rule and Steve Penrose and club captain Paul Upperton and Daniel Phillips.
At home, senior players had to tackle tricky weather conditions early on as they took to the course for their monthly medal.
However, the heavy rain and hail stones soon blew away allowing the sun to drape across the holes, although the course stayed wet.
David Stevens came away as the winner on count back from David Gibbons after both carded net rounds of 66.
Keith Eccleston finished one shot behind the pair to claim third place while Rod Butler won the nearest to the pin contest at the 12th hole.
