GOLFERS braved tough conditions at Budock Vean on Sunday to take part in the second round of their Winter League.

Heavy rain showers on an already wet course made playing difficult at best around the holes and this was reflected in the scores.

Topping the table was Rob Eccleston who tackled the conditions to record a total of 44 points.

Robert Johnson got the second best score of 40, which was the same as Keith Whitbread but the former went ahead on countback.

A top effort was also put in by 11-year-old Zack Cook who went round the course and showed great potential with his score of 38.

For the second week in a row, Budock met Killiow for a match, but this time in a friendly format.

Also unlike their recent Frank Wills Salver tie, it was Killiow who came out on top in a close affair with the final score being 3.5 – 2.5.

The club’s ladies also contested for their last medal of the year.

Net scores of 73 were recorded by the top three players, but it was Shirley Mildren who was awarded the win due to her back nine holes producing a better score compared to Glenys Bateson and Tricia Blatter.
