NOVEMBER’S Monthly Medal sponsored by Kelsall Steele Investment Services attracted another large turnout at Falmouth Golf Club on Saturday, writes Keith Rashleigh.

On a pleasant winter’s day, Robbie Edgson played with his usual consistency to win with a good net 63 including a superb one over par back nine which proved crucial in the end.

Club stalwart Mike Hodges made sure Edgson did not have it all his own way as he also carded net 63 thanks to an impressive two over par gross 74, only to lose on countback.

Angus MacArthur took third place with a net 64 where his triple bogey seven at the 14th proved costly.
He did just pip Matthew Morrison, who carded birdies at the sixth, seventh and 16th holes, and Stephen Draycott who had birdies at the seventh, 14th and 16th holes, only to then be undone by a double bogey seven at the 17th hole on countbacks into third and fourth places respectively.

Scratch player Mark Carter returned a superb three under par 69 for the best gross of the day.

The following day, 44 players turned out on the course for a mixed greensomes event which was won by the pairing of Rick Shaw and Jo Munday with a score of 45.

Coming second were Lawrence Dalby and Pam Annear, who took the place on countback from William McLean and Kathy Wells after the duos bagged 42 each.

Donna Craig and her superb team at the club’s bar are once again providing sumptuous Christmas lunches.
