IT was a mild day for members of Falmouth Golf Club as they took to the course for round five of the four ball better ball Winter League, writes Keith Rashleigh.
This was certainly reflected in the scoring as the placings between second and fourth saw a blanket finish with brilliant totals of 45 points apiece from George Popperwell and John Yeates, who took second spot thanks to a back nine which yielded 27.
Dave Holland and Peter Lewis took third place with a back nine of 23 and fourth were Simon Hirst and Rob Churcher also with a back nine of 23.
These scores were made to look ordinary however as Steve Thomas and Ray Hudson came in with a fabulous 48.
Their front nine of 22 followed by a superb 26 on the back nine for a four under par gross round in which both players came in perfectly by sharing with nine scoring holes each.
The next Winter League is on Saturday January 3.
Friday night was a big success at the club as Rik Shaw presided over his Big Fat Christmas Quiz, where a fun night was enjoyed by all with over 100 attending.
The draw for the prestigious Cornwall County Presidents Trophy semi finals has been made and Falmouth will play Looe at Perranporth on February 15.
