GENTLEMEN at Budock Vean Golf Club contested the Thomas Cup on Sunday.

On a dry day, many of the players struggled with the changing conditions on the fairways and greens.

A total of six entrants managed to score par or better with Paul Upperton being crowned champion on count back from Rod Butler after the duo both scored 65.

David Tippett finished third after carding 66 while Charlie Averiss and Chris Mason both hit rounds of 67.

Averiss had experienced success earlier in the week as he took home the first Seniors’ Monthly Medal of 2015 with six pars and a birdie helping him to a net total of 63.

Behind Averiss was Geoff Mills who finished his round with a score of 67.

This was the same total as David Gibbons, but Mills nudged in front on count back.

Gibbons’ score did give him the prize of carding the lowest gross score of the competition.

The club’s female members held their spring meeting a day later and also contested the Cocker Cup with Glen Bateson winning on count back from Barbara Craig after both scored 71.

Later this week, the weather delayed final round of the Winter League will be played.
