SUNSHINE surprisingly greeted players at Budock Vean as they battled for the John Loughnan Memorial Salves on Sunday.

The weather forecast had predicted rain, but this did not occur and the men and women went onto the course for the competition in memory of the former president, who died two years ago.

Bringing home the prize in on the male side was John Rule with an excellent 42 Stableford points with Chris Mason claiming second on countback after he, Paul Upperton and Piran Trezise all scored 40.

As for the females, it proved to be a good family day out as Sue Rule won with 34 points.

Coming second was Nina Hann on countback from Barbara Craig.

Hann had slightly better luck last Wednesday as she won a Stableford/County Voucher competition with a total of 39 bettering Lesley Upperton by five.

The senior men played a match away at Cape Cornwall and won 4-2 with victories for the pairings of David Gibbons and Alan Mills, Roger Mildren and David Townsend, Dennis McQuillan and Peter Robinson and Tony Grace and Tony Grimmer.
