A pleasant spring day greeted the players at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday as the teams of three competed for the ETS Cups, writes Keith Rashleigh.

The event as ever attracted a good entry but the course proved difficult as nobody played to the standard scratch of 38 points.

The competition for the cups however was played with the same intensity and had to be decided on countback. The winning team were Chris Mason 37 points; Richard Whatmore 34 points and Dennis McQuillan 32 points for an aggregate of 103.

Runner up were Stephen Penrose 37 points. Mike O’Hara 36 points and Don McFarlane 30 points. Third with an aggregate of 98 points were Andrew Varney 35 pints. Rod Butler 32 points and Barry Williams with 31 points. This Saturday Budock Vean play away tom Cape Cornwall for a place in the fourth round of the Daily Mail Team Classic National knock out competition.

On Sunday the David Sadler memorial trophy is played for with a presentation at 6 pm.

Members are reminded to enter the Summer Knock Out competitions for the draw which will take place on Sunday, April 3. On Wednesday the Ladies enjoyed their Spring Meeting playing for the Cocker Cup. Shirley Mildren continued her excellent run of form by opening with a birdie three at the first for the second successive week which sent the 11 handicapper on her way to carding an untouchable net 69 to win by five strokes from Sue Rule.
