Popular Budock Vean Club captain David Houldsworth added his name to the prestigious Champion of Champions honours board on Sunday when he returned an untouchable net 62 despite carding double bogies at the first and last holes.

Apart from that he put together a very tidy round to win by three strokes from Charlie Averiss who was putting together a serious challenge until he hit the buffers at the 572-yard par five 16th where he ran up a triple bogey eight which derailed him. T hird was eight handicapper David Gudzij who carded the best gross of the day 75 for a net 67.

Nobody managed a two at the par threes, which reflected the slow greens but golf manager Tony Ramsden chipped in for an "eagle" two at the par four 12th to scoop the back nine twos jackpot.

Tony also enjoyed success on Wednesday as alongside his wife Sue they deservedly won the Douglas Bader ‘wings appeal’ Greensomes Charity event with a splendid haul of 43 Stableford points.

Runners up were Barry and Marlene Williams with 39 points and third were Russ Ellis and Sue Parsons with 38 points. David Oliver and Pat Kirkham also carded 38 points as did John and Sue Rule both pairings missing out on the countbacks.

The extra medal for non qualifiers was won by Barry Williams with a net 66. Runner up was Chris Mason on net 67 and third was Des Sadler with a net 68. Members were pleased to see talented all round sportsman Dylan Mason back on the course.
