Cornwall Seniors lost to Glamorgan Seniors in their opening match of the Seniors' Channel League match at Trethorne.

Participating in the league for the first time the Cornish side got off to a good start and lead after the morning foursomes 3–2.

In the afternoon singles the points in the first two games were shared but then Glamorgan took a grip on the match winning three and halving one of the next four games.

The match probably hinged on the games of Cornwall's Mike Marshall, who lost on the last hole, and Michael Hayes, who was pegged back for a half after going up the last hole one-up.

Despite excellent wins from Dave Goodman (Bowood Park) five-and-three Peter Verran (West Cornwall) five-and-four, Cornwall could not avoid defeat.

Falmouth’s Colin Ross also performed well as he won both his matches on the day.

Cornwall Seniors play their second match in the SCL on Monday, May 23, when they entertain Gwent at Bude and North Cornwall.
