Mike O’Hara and Don McFarlane earnt the right to represent Budock Vean Golf Club at De Vere Wokefield Park in Berkshire on September 12 with an excellent round at the weekend, writes Keith Rashleigh.

They used all their considerable experience and combined skills to good effect on Sunday as they returned an untouchable 45 Stableford points. The format of four ball better ball is arguably the best in golf and Mike and Don certainly put themselves in a good position with 22 points on the front nine.

The canny pair played even better over the back nine to register another 23 points which was enough to win by two points from Ian Scorse and Richard Burton, who incidentally have been drawn away to Carlyon Bay for a place in the fifth round of the National Daily Mail foursomes event.

Third were Tony Ramsden and David Gudzij who represented Budock Vean at the Players Club in Bristol in last years International Pairs event. This Sunday the monthly medal at Budock Vean is being sponsored by Budock Water Stores.

On Wednesday the Ladies Golf Foundation Broach Appeal was won by Alison Samuel with a good score of 41 points. Runner up was Samantha Tolchard with another fine score of 39 points and third was Shirley Mildren with 37 points.
