Budock Vean’s talented young golfer, Katie Rule played for the Cornwall Ladies golf team recently.

She took part in the South West Ladies inter-county match week at North Wilts Golf Club, which featured top lady golfers included many current England players.

As Katie was playing so well, the Cornwall captain sent her out every day, meaning the 18-year-old played 36 holes from Monday through to Friday. From a squad of 12 many players were rested and alternated due to the gruelling schedule of this week.

Katie, Cornwall’s lowest lady handicap golfer playing of one, was the star of the team winning every singles match and three fousomes. She got eight-and-a-half points out of a maximun of 10 for the Duchy.

Cornwall came fourth, behind the winners Gloucester. Devon finished fifth.

Next on Katie’s busy schedule is the South West Ladies Championships at Churston in a few weeks time, which incorperates the 36-hole stroke play championship, and then into a knock-out Competition.

Last year Katie won the 36 hole Championship, and lost in the semi-final on the 19th to the eventual winner. This year she hopes to go one better and collect both trophies.
