Ian Scorse produced some of his magic at sunny Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday to deservedly win the coastal diesel and transmission sponsored monthly medal, writes Keith Rashliegh.

Ian carded no less than seven threes including birdies at the third, 12th, 13th and 17th holes for a gross 72 and a winning net 63.

This was two ahead of runner up Shaun Cuffin who played solidly for his net 65. David Gudzij also played well for his gross 73 and a net 66 to take third place.

The back nine twos jackpot was shared between Richard Whatmore (11th), Stephen Penrose (15th) and Roger Mildren at the 18th.

This Sunday is the Thomas Cup followed by the Cook/Martin mixed foursomes on Wednesday, July 13, which has a 6pm presentation.

On Wednesday the Ladies Pink Day Stableford saw some good scoring and was won by Tricia Blatter with a fine haul of 39 points.

Runner up was Mary Rose Bradshaw with 38 points and third was Mae Brown with 37 points. All the entry money went to the Captain’s Charity Made for Life. Samantha Tolchard was the toast of the Ladies as she had a hole in one at the ninth.

Budock Vean’s Grand ‘Open’ Charity Day on Sunday, August 7, is rapidly taking shape and another sell out is anticipated for an event that is always well organised and enjoys a good reputation around the county.

The format is four-ball better-ball in any mix. Any pairs wishing to enter should contact the professional shop 01326 252102 quickly to avoid disappointment.

Club captain David Houldsworth has chosen the MacMillan Appeal as his Charity and a number of sponsors have already pledged their support including St Austell Brewery who once again will be present with their vintage wagon.

The Barlow family who own the four star Hotel Golf and Country Club are once again generously supporting the event and ensuring that all entry money is going to the MacMillan Appeal.
