Talented teenager Christian Sheer deservedly won the monthly medal on a perfect autumnal day at Budock Vean Golf club on Sunday, writes Keith Rashleigh.

His fine net 62 saw him win by two strokes from Bob Hartnell. Ron Andrew took third place with a net 65. Michael Hayes won the best gross, by carding a 75.

The medal was also the final round of the Whiteside Rose Bowl, which is for the best four aggregate rounds of the year.

Geoff Mills won with 252 and scores of 61; 62; 64 and 65. Runner up was vice captain Richard Burton on 256 with scores of 62; 62; 66 and 66.

Third was Tony Grace with an aggregate also of 256 and scores of 62; 64; 65 and 65.

This Sunday Budock Vean take on holders Carlyon Bay, at Truro, for a place in the last eight of the Cornwall Bowl. The team is Mike O‘Hara and Brian Martin; David Stevens and Tony Grace; Chris Mason and Dennis McQuillan; David Tangye and Ron Andrew; David Penrose and David Houldsworth.

The summer knockouts have all come to a finish and the winners were. Admiral Harrison Scratch Cup: David Gudzij. Both the Worral Cup and the Bill Warner Cups were won by Tony Grace. The Married Couples was won by Tony and Sue Ramsden and the Porritt Cups by Paul Upperton and Richard Whatmore.

Meanwhile the Ladies played a five clubs and a putter stableford competition on Wednesday. Maureen Salome won with a very useful haul of 40 points. Runner up was Tricia Blatter with 38 points and third was Mae Brown with 36 points.
