It was the Ted Hitchens’ Winter League that took centre stage at Falmouth Golf Club this weekend.

It had rained heavily the previous night and the course was only opened, just in time.

Scoring, so far this year has been fantastic and round four proved to be no exception.

In third place, was the combination of Arthur Clay and Tony Harris who managed to subtly combine strength and guile to produce a score of 45 points.

In second place, with 46 points was Paul Collins and Richard Marsh. A special mention should go to Paul, who contributed no less than six birdies to their overall score, which was three under par gross.

Out in front, this week, were the experienced pair of Gary Wall and Derek Collins. Gary has just returned and recovered from a trip to Poland, where he managed to drink his own bodyweight in vodka.

While there he generously treated his girlfriend with a visit to Auschwitz, and now he’s back, he managed to bring all his concentration to bear on the wet greens and fairways, where their combined score was two over par gross, which resulted in a fantastic 47 points.

Results: 1st Gary Wall and Derek Collins 47 pts, 2nd Paul Collins and Richard Marsh 46 pts, 3rd Arthur Clay and Tony Harris 45 pts, 4th Martin Lawden and Nick Morrison 44pts, 5th Graham Buck and Phil Carlyon 43 pts.
