The January monthly medal sponsored by Falmouth Petroleum Ltd saw a good turn out at Budock Vean Golf Club on Sunday.

The final outcome could not have been closer as the top three all carded fine net 64s.

Stephen Penrose played well to card the best gross of the day 75 to win by the narrowest of margins from in form Dennis McQuillan who played well only to lose out on countback as did Kevin Bate in third place.

Ian Scorse was also in fine form and he carded a solid gross 75, which included the only back nine two of the day, scooping the jackpot at the 11th. hole.

This Saturday the members get a chance to visit parts of the course they never normally see, well most of them, as they stage a ‘cross country Texas scramble’.

It’s a ‘shotgun’ start in teams of four of any mix and tees off at 12.30pm. The following day the Roger Mildren sponsored Winter League springs back into action.

Members were saddened to hear of the passing away of Phyllis Benney. Phyllis was a staunch supporter of Budock Vean Golf Club over the years and was a fine player who was a founder member of the Ladies section.
