Talented Budock Vean teenage golfer Katie Rule enjoyed a successful Ladies County Championship at West Cornwall bringing home three trophies.
Katie did suffer the disappointment of losing her third successive County final, to four-time winner Sarah-Jane Boyd at the 35th hole in a high quality final.
Scratch golfer Katie had impressed the gallery with her ability from tee to green, but had to settle for the runners up cup as the experienced Sarah-Jane Boyd, from Truro Golf Club, held a crucial edge on the greens with her solid putting.
Katie had the satisfaction of carding the best 18 hole gross of the week, to collect the Aston Bowl. She also won the Rowe Cup for returning the best gross in the under-23 morning section.
Katie, who lives in Falmouth, represented St Enodoc in the team event and helped them win the Western Morning News Cup as Enodoc returned the four best gross scores.
This week she is playing in the Scottish Open, followed by the Welsh Open the following week.
Her caddy is her father John Rule, a former professional and also a regular at Budock Vean golf club.
