THIRTY-FOUR yachts came to the line in 10 knots of ESE breeze. The Flushing Sailing Club race officials, Chris Bell and his crew, set interesting courses with good beats, writes Bill Hunt.
The race is part of the first Tuesday Points Series but doubles up as the RNLI charity race when, for a donation of £3 which all goes to the RNLI, yachts compete for an extra small prize. However, only those who have paid up and who attend the prizegiving afterwards qualify!
Flushing Sailing Club presented the guild treasurer of the RNLI with a cheque for £121.50 from this event.
There were 19 starters on Saturday when Jerry Windebank kindly stood in as race officer as the duty man failed to appear.
The race began with only one or two knots of an easterly but fortunately it filled in later. These were very difficult conditions for the race officer but he managed to give everyone a good race and get them back for tea!
