An amateur basketball team in Penryn will be hosting a fundraising exhibition match against Plymouth Pirates on Tuesday.

The Penryn Rebels community mens basketball club will be hosting the Pirates, one of the top teams in the Plymouth and District league this year, to raise money following their promotion to the league after they won last summer's Cornish league.

Spectators will be asked for a £2 donation at the game, at 8pm at Penryn College, and they will have the chance to win prizes in a half time shoot out and prize draw.

Event organiser Maixme Morandeaut said: "This year was the first time we entered the Plymouth and District league and we had some success. We want to encourage more people to play the sport, and recruit more players so that we can regularly compete at a high level. This event is to help the club grow and move forward.

"All the funds raised from the game and prize draw will go to the club to be spent on much needed equipment, including balls, kit and to ensure the club can continue to run. For more information about the club or the event contact Maxime on 07864 263048 or maxime.morandeau@wanadoo.fr."
