MICKEY Fuller, of Red Lion A, sprang a surprise in the West Cornwall Summer Pool League Singles Knockout winning some tough matches along the way to become the 2014 champion.

After a walkover win against Red Lion B's Tim Pascoe in the quarter final, Fuller then defeated Scott Patterson, who plays for Mullion FC, 2-1 in the semi final with an eight ball clearance in the decider.

He then grabbed another eight ball clearance in the final to defeat two time champion Anthony Williams, of Helston FC A, 3-1.

On his way to the final, Williams defeated John Collins from Godolphin Club F and Angel Hotel A's Simon Makin.

The defeated singles finalist did take home some joy though as alongside Mike Torr, they won the doubles knockout with a 3-1 victory over JP Collins and Pete Williams of Godolphin Club F.

The Helston FC A duo won their semi final 2-0 against Helston RFC C pair Dan Miners and Phil Johns while Collins and Williams won 2-1 against Fuller and Karl Hanson in their semi.

With a week to go, Angel Hotel A lead Division Three.

Last week they won 5-4 against Red Lion A while Helston FC C came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Three Tuns 6-3 thanks to singles wins from David Stidwell, Terry Stidwell and Sid Taylor.

Godolphin Club A edged out the Queens Arms 5-4 and Angel Hotel B won 6-3 against Red Lion B.
