BEATING Falmouth Docks F 9-1 has helped Bridge A open an 14 point lead over the rest in the West Cornwall Table Tennis League’s Premier Division.

The Illogan-based club sit on 70 points overall following the thrashing which saw Austin Chapman and Will Abouelhana win all their games and Kelly Reed dropping just one point as she lost to Jack Cortis.

It was a better story for Falmouth Docks D who jumped up to third following a great 10-0 whitewash over Bridge B with Chris, Malcolm and Nick Peters winning all their matches comfortably.

Their colleagues in the C side took on Mounts Bay A despite only having two players available in the form of Steve Lobb and David Plumb, but still came out with a 6-4 victory.

Elsewhere in the division, Docks E beat Docks B 6-4 with Martin Rule retaining his individual unbeaten record this season.

In the First Division, Mylor A are in prime position for promotion as they top the table by three points over Truro’s Peoples Palace B.

David White finished unbeaten in their most recent victory at Docks K as the side ran out 7-3 winners, with team-mate Ian Bell won two out of three matches and Chris Bassett one.

A double win was secured by Docks J, who sit in fourth spot, before the Christmas and New Year break as they defeated Marazion 6-4 before toppling Harris Mill 7-3.

Penryn-based Saracens A have a nine point lead in the Second Division and a game in hand over nearest rivals Mylor C.

The latter go into the break with confidence though after scoring an 8-2 win over Saracens B.

Mark Norcross proved to be unbeatable in all three of his games while David Jenkin and David Marshall picked up two victories each for their side.
