Falmouth and Penryn Amateur Boxing Club’s success continued at the weekend as they sent two boxers to compete at Camborne Rugby Club.
The club, which is based at Falmouth School, was started up in September 2010 and has seen many of its members win fights, helped by a number of experienced coaches.
This time it was the turn of 15-year-old David Pruen to take some glory.
The 77kg junior boxer was competing in his first bout, against a more experienced opponent from Torbay.
However, that did not faze Pruen, who showed great potential to gain victory on a unanimous points decision. David is a Falmouth School pupil who joined the club this year.
His coaches Toni Partridge and Tony Houghton were very happy with his performance and are looking forward to more junior boxers following in David’s footsteps.
On the same night Rhys Higgs, a senior boxer from Falmouth and Penryn ABC, showed great improvement, narrowly losing on points to his opponent.
Falmouth and Penryn ABC training nights are on Wednesdays starting at 7 pm.
