FOLLOWING the success of the first ‘zero to three miles’ run/walk programme last autumn, a second course is being launched at the Dracaena Centre in Falmouth to encourage complete beginners to take up running in a friendly, no-pressure environment.

The eight-week programme has been designed to enable anyone, regardless of age or current fitness level, to complete a three-mile challenge at the end of the course. The organisers are now looking for recruits to sign up before the commencement date of Wednesday, March 14. Angie Tiller, programme designer and running coach, explained: “This programme is perfect for anyone who finds the thought of joining a running club too daunting. There are so many benefits to running - it's a great way to meet new people, lose weight and boost your self-esteem and confidence.”

The cost of the programme is £15, payable at the first session. Each session will be led by friendly, fully-qualified group leaders who will be on hand to give advice and answer questions. Changing, shower facilities and lockers are available at the Dracaena Centre.

The project has been developed under UK Athletic’s Run England initiative aimed at encouraging more people into running as a recreation.

The first course attracted fifteen regular participants, most of whom have continued running and some have even gone on to join a running club. So if you are aged 16 or over and looking for a new challenge, reserve your place by contacting Angie Tiller on angietiller1@gmail.com or telephone 01326 316887.
