Lizard FC A extended their lead at the top of division one of the West Cornwall Summer Pool League last week after an 8-1 win over the Harbour Inn.

Helston FC A remain in second spot after a 6-3 win over Godolphin Club B, while the Bell Inn defeated the Killigrew Inn by the same score. Dan Stidwell, Dan Jenkin, Ian Eddy, Gary Smith and Tom Retallack all won for Helston FC B in their 5-4 win over Constantine SC A.

Godolphin Club D won 6-3 against Helston RBL E and still ead division two, but now lead by only a point from Helston RBL D, who won 7-2 against Rosudgeon SC with singles wins coming from Pat O’Hare, Chris Williams, Doug Hastings and Glynn Meredith. Rileys A trailed 3-1 against Mullion FC but came back well to win 5-4 and Red Lion a won 6-3 against Godolphin Club A.

A 6-3 win for Seven Stars B helped them stay top of division three after they defeated Rileys C, while Rileys B won 5-4 against the Queens Arms to remain second.

However, an 8-1 loss against the Rodney in a rearranged game didn’t help Rileys B promotion cause. The Rodney B team also had a 5-4 victory over the Lion & Lamb.

Wins from Ben Bowden, Rob Gardner and Charlie Campbell helped Constantine SC B to a 5-4 win over Red Lion B. The Rodney Inn A team shocked Helston FC B in the team knockout beating them 5-0.

The first rounds of the singles knockout were played last week and the eight qualifiers were Helston Football Club Venue – Kevin Bosustow (Lizard FC), Nigel Cowls (Godolphin F). Rileys Venue – Malcolm Fof (Helston FC A), Peter Hall (Bell Inn). Helston RBL Venue – Jon Waddoups (Rileys A), Gary Smith (Helston FC B). Godolphin Club Venue – Dean Bray (Harbour Inn), Jimmy Johns (Lizard FC).
