Falmouth Eagles 50 Exeter Saracens 5

Falmouth Eagles moved up to fourth in the Tribute Devon and Cornwall league with a resounding victory over Exeter Saracens at the Recreation Ground.

The Eagles were simply too strong, with the home pack dominating the game right from the whistle and helping set the platform for what was a comfortable afternoon.

Winger Josh Symons set the scoreboard ticking over with a try in the corner early on, converted by Justin Irons.

Then some powerful play from the Falmouth forwards set up Sam Burke - one of the Eagles' standout performers on the day - who dashed 50 yards before Exeter finally managed to catch up with him barely two yards from the try line.

Some quick hands saw the ball recycled, and Matt Biggins went over for Falmouth's second.

Irons scored the third, then added his own extras with the boot.

But soon after Saracens hit back with a fine try from Tom Rushton, who jinked his way over from all of 60 metres out.

It was a timely reminder for the Falmouth pack to keep their focus, and keep it they did.

The home side's response was ruthless, scoring another two tries before the break from Burke and hooker Ollie Church, who finished off a catch and drive.

Falmouth eased off in the second half as Exeter tired, but a vocal crowd demanded more and the Eagles duly obliged, scoring three more tries late in the game through captain Tony Whittle, one for Tom David, and another for Burke.

Falmouth tries: Burke (2), Whittle, Symons, Biggins, Irons, Church, David. Cons: Irons (5)

Exeter tries: Rushton.
