A STRONG pack came up against Falmouth Rugby Club’s Under 13 side on Sunday as they lost 27-17 at home to Wadebridge.

With the hosts unable to field a full side, the visitors graciously provided several players to bolster the squad and make the game fair.

After a cagey start from both teams, Wadebridge took the lead as their pack drove towards Falmouth’s 22 before their number eight bounced off a couple of defenders to get over the line.

Good character was shown by Falmouth though in the half and Alex Wilson brought the scores level after 20 minutes with a run down the blindside catching the defence cold.

Wadebridge turned up the heat though and with a good passing move which saw the ball recycled plenty of times they went back in front before adding two more tries before half time.

Despite the score, Falmouth came out after the break still determined to get something out of the game and carried on pressing hard.

Wilson then grabbed a try back for the home side when from a penalty five metres away from Wadebridge’s try line, he produced a cheeky dummy to open up a gap and dart over.

However, punishment was dished out to Falmouth for failing to get the ball from their own line-out as Wadebridge put on a push to go over the line.

Another try did come for Falmouth when Finbar O’Conaill danced over the line after making the most of a loose clearance kick before sprinting down the sideline.
