THE EAGLES certainly know how to keep their loyal supporters in suspenders as when all seemed lost a trump card was produced.

It was all quite simple really, catching and passing this silly shaped ball.

The visiting resilient Exeter team were good value and carried some performers, notably their full-back Rushton and number eight Croft.

Exeter ended up playing the majority of the game a man short after a red card after 25 minutes when prop Siddons went for an early shower joined for ten minutes by yellow carded AJ Geach for Falmouth.

The early exchanges were even with both sides threatening, but not delivering.

Justin Irons opened the Eagles account with a well struck penalty, then the visitor’s responded with a well deserved try by Rushton.

After constant pressure from this danger man before the break, the visitors extended their lead when winger Tom Arthur was let loose scoring wide out.

With this conversion missed, the Eagles replied with another Irons’ penalty to make it 12-6 at half time.

After returning to the pitch, the Eagles dominated the visitors seven man pack and yet squandered many opportunities managing only one Irons penalty.

The pressure was not showing as Saracens were tiring.

But with 12 minutes on the clock came a flash of brilliant rugby by all of the three-quarter line who handled a move started in their own half and ended with winger George Hooper scoring in the corner.

Irons missed the conversion but did ease the suspense and nerves of the home supporters with a final penalty.
